Ahoy there! $3m Boost to Brisbane Economy
It’s full steam ahead for Brisbane businesses at the weekend as over 6,000 personnel from the USS Ronald Regan take time out in the river city.
With an injection of $3 million per day set to hit coffers, we will see tourism operators, restaurateurs, retailers and Brisbane’s more colourful entertainment venues bracing for an armed forces-led surge in business.
There’s no doubt that our friends from the US forces love spending time and money in Brisbane, experiencing everything that the city has to offer. They are on shore for a short time and a good time so bars, restaurants, cafes and retailers should all have a great weekend.
Brisbane is fortunate to have American troops arrive fairly regularly, with each visit having positive impacts for the business community and our economy, and the visit of the USS Ronald Regan will have a similar benefits.
We know that visiting forces love Brisbane, often arranging for their families to fly in to see them, which will be a further injection into our tourism industry and create a new battalion of advocates for tourism in Queensland.
Business and residents will no doubt welcome the navy troops with open arms. Let’s just hope that they remember their passports, so they don’t get torpedoed by our tourist friendly ID scanners.
