Business women encouraged to boost their ‘leadership language’

Female managers, business owners and executives are encouraged to attend an “exclusive” CQUniversity masterclass in Cairns on July 28-29.

The masterclass at Rydges Esplanade Resort will be led by CQUni sessional lecturer, business advisor and leadership coach Dr Elaine Harding, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland.

CCIQ Regional Manager for Far North Queensland Amy Turnbull will also be attending the event.

Dr Harding aims to help Cairns women fine-tune their professional communication skills and be empowered to lead dynamic organisations built on trust and confidence.

“Women Leaders today are expected to manage projects and outcomes plus have the communication skills and confidence to create a positive culture in the workplace,” Dr Harding said.

“The invisible language of leadership includes not only the words used but also the intent, body language and follow-through actions to create authentic trust with staff, as well as business partners and key stakeholders.

“Women in senior leadership positions who can inspire, collaborate and effectively resolve conflicts while still allowing for a diversity of views, are those who create greater innovation and productivity in their teams.

“Understanding and mastering gender dynamics in the workplace is a core component of creating greater trust and motivation.

"Women often approach relationships quite differently than men and therefore it is critical to be skilled at leveraging gender strengths while also fortifying imbalances in individual styles.”
