CCIQ Technology set to drive innovation in Queensland business
CCIQ are pleased to announce the formation of CCIQ Technology, a specialist stream of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland.
CCIQ Technology will establish a vital network for businesses to embrace innovation and grow their digital capability.
It will also establish a platform for advocacy upon issues central to the growth of Queensland's digital economy.
Formed as a result of the findings of CCIQ’s inaugural Digital Readiness Study, CCIQ Technology will work to address the challenges Queensland businesses face, as they grapple with the opportunities posed by a rapidly evolving digital economy.
The Digital Readiness Study saw almost 700 Queensland businesses provide insights into their capacity, capability, adoption and concerns associated with a move to a data led, cloud based, and technology reliant economy.
CCIQ CEO, Stephen Tait, said, "Queensland businesses have told us that there is a real need to focus upon technology as an enabler for business growth."
"CCIQ Technology will be at the forefront of our push to make sure Queensland businesses in the technology industry have a voice and that building Queensland’s digital economy is a priority.
"Almost 700 businesses have worked with CCIQ to create Queensland’s most comprehensive digital research study, painting a picture of the current digital landscape, providing insights into a range of issues and challenges and successes of operating in a digital economy.
"As we prepare to launch the findings in January, creating CCIQ Technology was a natural progression in keeping with CCIQ’s goals to power the business potential of Queensland."
Full findings of the Digital Readiness Study will be released in February 2013.
CCIQ Technology will be led by Maree Adshead. Maree is General Manager of TLC iTSolutions a Brisbane ICT success story, founder of award winning technology start-up MobileIP, and former Chair of the Queensland branch of the AIIA (Australian Information Industry Association).
Maree was awarded the 2012 Women in Technology ICT Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of her contribution to the ICT industry.
Maree Adshead said, "I am delighted to be involved with CCIQ Technology. Queensland has a vibrant ICT community that is bursting with smart, world-leading technology innovation."
"CCIQ Technology will link local innovation and capability with local businesses to help increase productivity and competitive advantage. I believe this is an important network that will have broad positive impacts across the economy for the state.
"CCIQ Technology’s advocacy focus will extend to all levels of government to make access to technology and resources for small and medium businesses a key priority.
"A key focus for CCIQ Technology will be to work with the ICT industry and the broader business community to develop practical, tangible and above all usable solutions to ensure that Queensland businesses are at the forefront of the Australian, Asian and Global digital economies."
CCIQ Technology will operate within CCIQ. It will be charged with voicing state and federal issues relating to the technology industry and bridging the gap between businesses and innovation that can help drive Queensland’s economy.
