Collaborate start-up success stories reveal tips on Demo Day
Just a little over 10 months ago, our Suncorp Bank #SmallBusinessChallenges winners began their amazing #Startup journey and in only a short time are well on their way to success.
On Friday October 21, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) is hosting a Demo Day where you can come along to the Collaborate hub at Spring Hill, Brisbane and meet the founders and try their amazing products.
CCIQ’s GM of Collaborate James Flaherty said up to 10 start-ups will be set up to demo their products in a two-hour ‘Trade Show’ style setting at Collaborate.
“You are welcome to come along to meet the founders, demo their products, and talk about the start-up journey,” he said.
“Ten months ago we ran the Suncorp Bank #SmallBusinessChallenges campaign which saw 115 business apply to become part of Collaborate, pitch for investment and build their start-up on partnership with CCIQ, Suncorp and BlueChilli.
“On Demo Day we will see brand new products from QuickSafety, TrusTill, Writally and FolkTale, which have been taken from concept to customers through Collaborate.”
In addition, start-ups from BlueChilli’s Brisbane cohort will also be part of the day, including BenchOn, Hypometer, I’llPay, SiteDiary, Therapair and Unscrabble, who will all demonstrate their technology solutions.
Kurt Alexander, who has developed QuickSafety, a mobile application that enables electricians to complete safety certificates quickly and easily on their mobile device, welcomed Demo Day.
“Looking forward to meeting face-to-face with anyone in the Trades Industry (especially electricians), to show you how you can be compliant faster, reduce risk and improve safety,” he said.
“Make sure and don't miss this and the other amazing ideas coming out of the "Think Tank" @collaborate.”
Mr Flaherty said guests can also register to participate in an Ideation Workshop hosted by BlueChilli Melbourne’s Start-up Market Manager Ren Butler.
In this four-hour intensive workshop you will go through core concepts to all successful start-up ideas.
“You should be looking to create something innovative that stands out in the commercial landscape, ideally by leveraging technology to deliver better outcomes for users and/or consumers,” he said.
“You will walk away with an actionable plan to validate your idea out in the real, live market to decide if this is that idea that you should go all-in with.
“This workshop is ideal for corporate escapees, consultants, and students who are exploring start-up founding as a career path. It'll be good for really anyone who's considering the jump into start-up land.”
